Mesotherapy with Isoproterenol

How Isoproterenol Works in Mesotherapy

Needle and syringeIt can activate receptors on the surfaces of fat cells that detect several types of chemical signals. One of these receptors is called the beta adrenergic receptor (beta-AR). When the beta-ARs are triggered, they tell fat cells to start breaking down the fats stored inside them, which in turn causes the fat cells to shrink and even disappear.

Different types of fat tissues have varying responses to isoproterenol based on the amount of beta-ARs and alpha-2 ARs, which have the opposite effect of beta-ARs when activated. Fat tissue in the abdomen has a higher ratio of beta-ARs to alpha-2 ARs than fat tissue in the thighs and buttocks. This makes abdominal fat more sensitive to mesotherapy than hip, thigh, and buttocks fat.

Pros

Scientific publications have described the breakdown of fat in tissue that has been subjected to these injections. Two studies have shown that peoples' thighs became smaller.

It does have an FDA approved indication for treatment of other diseases.

Cons

Some common side effects when given for its normal use are: nervousness, insomnia, restlessness, headaches, and others. As mentioned above, the hips, thighs, and buttocks are more difficult to treat.

The general side effects of mesotherapy also apply.

It is important you discuss any weight loss or exercise plan with your doctor. Only you and your physician can decide what is best for you. Some people have certain conditions that prevent them from doing all exercises, and goal body weights may be different for different people. You need to discuss all these things with your physician before starting any weight loss or exercise program. In addition, the dosage of any medicine may be different if it is used for weight loss and not its FDA approved indication. You should also discuss this with your doctor.
